St. Mary’s Public School held a spell bee competition for students in grades V to VIII. The event spanned three days, from February 12th to February 15th, and was divided into two categories: Category A and Category B. The competition comprised three rounds, with a total of 150 words for Category A and 200 words for Category B for students to learn.
Round I was open to all students in each class, who had to take a written test of 25 words. Those who scored 20 or more qualified for round II, which included a written test of 30 words. Students were selected based on high scores, as the final round was house wise.
The final round had three sub-rounds, including an oral spelling round, unscrambling jumbled words, and a rapid-fire round. Six members from each house competed for the trophy, with the Red House ultimately winning the competition in Category A, and the Yellow House taking the top spot in Category B.
The competition was a great way to encourage academic excellence by promoting spelling, vocabulary, and language skills among students. Moreover, it helped foster a sense of community and sportsmanship among the participants. It was a successful event showcased a healthy competition and teamwork among the students.
