On 18 December 2023, the Scouts, and Guides of St. Mary’s Public School embarked on a trekking trip to the ‘Rangoli Gardens’. Situated in Jakkur, Thanisandra, this Model Heritage Village is a breathtaking sculptural journey that takes you back in time to the cultural heritage of Karnataka’s villages.
The village showcases the rural life of Karnataka from 100-200 years ago, providing a deeper insight into the architecture, culture, traditional arts, and crafts of the state’s rural folk. Walking through the village, one could witness the intricate models of farmers, their houses, and lifelike replicas of tailor shops, grocery stores, barbershops, toymakers, laundrymen, shepherds, weavers, oilmen, and goldsmiths. Moreover, the village also features sculptures of people from different communities from Karnataka’s districts, depicting their lifestyles, professions, and day-to-day activities.
The trip was an incredible experience for the Scouts and Guides, allowing them to explore and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka’s rural life while enjoying the natural beauty of the ‘Rangoli Gardens’.
