“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” – Benjamin Franklin
St. Mary’s Public School conducted a mock fire drill on February 6th, 2024, with the primary aim of ensuring the safety of all students in case of a real emergency. The drill was also an opportunity to educate and train students on fire safety protocols and procedures.
An announcement was made a day before to inform all the students about the upcoming mock drill. The students were given detailed instructions on the exits, assembly points, and safety protocols. On the day of the drill, at exactly 11 AM, a fire alarm was sounded to simulate an emergency fire. The students of pre-primary used the emergency staircase that leads to the Congress office located next to the school for evacuation. The students of STD VII on the first floor quickly exited the building and assembled in front of the reception area near the school gates. The students of STD V, VI, and VIII assembled in the school’s basement.
Throughout the drill, the students remained calm and followed the instructions provided, filing in single lines while assembling. The drill was a success, and it provided an opportunity for the staff to assess their emergency response procedures and make necessary adjustments. Overall, the drill was an important exercise that helped to ensure the safety of all students in the event of a real emergency.
