On August 15, 1947, India, gained its independence from British colonial rule. This day marks a remarkable milestone in our journey towards freedom, and it is a day of great importance for every Indian. India is renowned for its diversity — of languages, cultures, religions, and traditions. Our unity played a pivotal role in achieving independence and continues to be the strength that binds us together. This day reminds us of the struggles faced by our ancestors and the values they stood for. It is a day to take pride in our country’s accomplishments and progress.
The 77th Indian Independence celebrations started with a warm welcome by the student emcee; a prayer, Bible reading, Qu’ran reading and Bhagavad Gita reading. This was followed by a speech on the various aspects of Indian Independence by a class V student. Speeches were also made by teachers in Hindi and English revolving around the themes – ‘Struggles of Independence’ and ‘Independence in the 21st century’.
The Middle School Choir regaled the audience with a patriotic musical rendition and the Middle School dance team enthralled the assembly with their passionate and emotive performance. The Principal of St. Mary’s Public School enlightened the audience with a speech on the necessity of freedom and religious tolerance. The assembly ended with an enthusiastic chant of Jai Hind, a heartfelt vote of thanks by the student emcee and the National anthem.
