St. Mary’s Public school celebrated Apostolic Visit of His Holiness the Patriarch of the Syrian Christian Orthodox Church to Bangalore on 28th January, 2024. The program started after His Holiness blessed the gathering.
India’s cultural diversity is a reflection of the many religions, languages, customs, traditions, and beliefs that have contributed to the country’s unique identity and character. The school very well showcased the indigenous dances and culture of the South as well as the still poses of various dances portraying unity in diversity. Starting with Mohiniyattam (Mohiniattam) which is a classical dance form of Kerala in South India. Kalaripayattu ( also known simply as Kalari) an Indian Martial Art. Bharatanatyam is an Indian classical dance form that originated in Tamil Nadu. Theyyam is a Hindu religious ritual practiced in northern Kerala and some parts of Karnataka. Yakshagana is a traditional theatres. One of the oldest traditions of Kerala, Aranmula Boat Race or Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali is a grand event. Throughout the program the Choir supported the participants with background score and tunes. They then presented a song before His Holiness.This song conveyed a message of trust in God’s unwavering goodness and faithfulness.
The young students presented the house March Past to showcase our school’s pride.
This was followed by a formation of heart shaped by the teachers to express the idea of the heart and love. The teachers of SMPS expressed their gratitude, love and happiness for His Holiness. Our Principal and Vice Principal presented doves to His Holiness as a token of love and honour. This was followed by His Holiness blessing the entire crowd gathered for his welcome.
This was followed by the procession that started from the school campus to the Auditorium for further progress of the program. Our students held vivacious still poses portraying various dances forms which was a treat to the eyes.
