“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Graduation Day is a remarkable milestone in a student’s life, symbolizing years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. It is a moment that prepares young minds and brave hearts to step into a world that evaluates them not just by their skill, talent, and ability, but also by their behaviour, personality, and values. St. Mary’s Public School celebrated the Graduation Day of the outgoing Class X students on 3rd February, 2024, with enthusiasm and grandeur.
The event started with a prayer and a reading from the Holy Bible. The mother lamp was lit by dignitaries, which sanctified the occasion and guaranteed purity and divinity throughout. The school anthem was played and revered for the last time by the audience of outgoing students garbed in blue and pink. The Vice Principal delivered a warm and passionate welcome speech, followed by the Principal’s address to the gathering. The chief guest, Mr. Alistair Mario Laporte, inspired the audience to look forward to success.
The head boy and head girl of the school, Syed Shaheer Ahmed and Emaan Yousuff shared their final academic year experiences with touching speeches. This was followed by a candle-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the continuity of tradition and the passing down of knowledge, values, and cultural heritage from one generation to the next. Class X students took a pledge of responsibility to strengthen their morals, values, and ethics as they stepped into a world larger than themselves.
The students were honoured by the chief guest and other dignitaries for their years of hard work and commitment to academics. The SMPS Choir then took the stage and captivated the audience with their inspiring and melodious renditions. The program ended with a vote of thanks by HOD of the English Department, and the national anthem. The event was a reflection of a decade’s experience and a memorable celebration of accomplishment that brought the entire SMPS community together in a spirit of hope, gratitude, and pride.
