“You’re never fully dressed without a smile.” – Martin Charnin (from the musical Annie)
Dental hygiene demonstrations are crucial in promoting oral health, preventing dental issues, and empowering students to take control of their well-being. On 7th February 2024, the Colgate Toothpaste Company conducted a dental hygiene demonstration in St. Mary’s Public School, which was attended by students of STD V to VIII. The experts elaborated on the right way to brush, the importance of brushing twice a day, changing toothbrushes once every three months, saying no to harmful products that can ruin oral health, such as tobacco, soda, excess sugar, etc., and maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet for a healthy mouth.
The students were given a set of toothpaste and toothbrushes and a brushing calendar to help them keep track of their oral hygiene. Ensuring proper dental hygiene practices in childhood can help prevent common dental problems such as cavities, gum disease, and tooth decay. It can contribute to overall well-being and confidence. Students with healthy smiles may experience improved self-esteem and social interactions, which can positively impact their academic performance and overall quality of life.
