A Spell Bee Competition for students of Grades VII to X was held on 17th September 2026 . The event was conducted with the support and guidance of the Cultural Coordinator, Ms. Sharda, and the English teachers, Ms. Wane and Mrs. Misbah.
The competition began with the selection of eight participants from among the students of Grades VII to X. The event comprised three exciting rounds, designed to test the students’ spelling skills, vocabulary, quick thinking, and knowledge across various themes.
The First Round – The Foundational Round focused on familiar and basic words. Each participant was given five words to spell. In addition, the students were challenged with five jumbled words (word scrambles) which they had to solve within 60 seconds. This round tested their ability to recognise words quickly and accurately. Four participants were eliminated at the end of this round.
The Second Round – The Challenge Round increased the level of difficulty and required the participants to demonstrate greater accuracy and confidence. After a closely contested round, two more participants were eliminated, leaving two finalists to compete in the final round.
The Third Round – The Theme-Based Round was the most challenging and engaging round of the competition. Eleven themes, including Food, Mythology, History, Biology, Countries, and several other categories were displayed on the screen. The two finalists had to choose five themes, following which five words corresponding to the selected themes were given to each participant. The round tested not only their spelling ability but also their general knowledge and ability to think under pressure.
The final round created an atmosphere of great excitement and anticipation among the students and teachers, who watched eagerly as the finalists competed for the title. After the scores were carefully tallied, the results were announced.
Aafiya Mehreen emerged as the First Runner-Up, while PS Syed Mohammed was declared the Winner of the Spell Bee Competition, 2026-27.
The competition was an enjoyable and enriching experience for both the participants and the audience. It provided students with an opportunity to enhance their vocabulary, improve their spelling skills, develop confidence, and demonstrate their ability to perform under pressure. The event concluded on a high note, with appreciation for all the participants who displayed enthusiasm, determination, and commendable effort throughout the competition.
