The 33rd annual Junior School sports day 2023-24 of St.Mary’s Public School was organized on 9th November 2023 at Mount Carmel Grounds. The event brought together students, teachers, and parents to celebrate sportsmanship and physical fitness. This event was an exciting opportunity for everyone to showcase their skills and competitive spirit.
Mr.Shivaraj. N., National level Gymnastics Player and Director of Elite Squad Gymnastics Academy, Bengaluru was the chief guest for the day.
Very Rev. Father Kauma Ramban, the Vicar of the St Mary’s Cathedral led the event with a prayer.
Mr.Itty. K. Cherian, President of the JSO Society, Mr.Alias Varghese, Former Chairman and Board Member, Mr.Vilson.K.J, The Treasurer of JSO Society, Mr.Kurien K Kalarikkal, Board Member, Mr.George K.Vetteth, Treasurer of St.Mary’s JSO Cathedral Principal Mrs.Ranjusha.M, Vice Principal Mrs.Vanitha Jacob Deepak, Finance Head Mr.Kurien Abraham, Head Mistress Mrs.Urmila Bali, Academic Head Mrs.Sharmila Anilesh had graced the occasion with their presence.
The theme of the event was “Sustainable Planet – Our Earth. Students emphasized the 17 Sustainable Goals provided by the United Nations.
Ms.Sharmila Anilesh, the Academic Head of the Junior School had proposed the Welcome Address.

The Sports Captain- Mst.Mohammad Shamsudeen. B took the oath along with the other house leaders, followed by the lighting of the torch.
The releasing of the balloons and pigeons were done by the Chief Guest – Mr.Sivaraj.
The tiny tots of the Pre Primary welcomed the audience with a welcome drill. Various physical activities and games offered during the event were Mass Drill by STD I & II students, Yoga display by STD IV Students , Up U Go display by III STD students, Ball drill by the students of STD III & IV Students.
The pre primary student’s participants in the 10 Meters Dash, Fun Races, 20 Meters Dash and Shuttle Relay.
The Primary students participated in 50 meters Dash, 80 Meters Dash, 100 meters dash, Shuttle Relay, Obstacle Race, and 4*100 Meters Relay.
All the drill performances went on throughout the day, and it was a spectator experience for the participants.
The races for the annual Junior School sports day ended with competitions for the parents. All the fathers’ participated in Bombing the City and Mr.Irfan, parent of Aliya Hasanath of III B secured the First Place, Mr.Sheiak Zaimuddian , parent of Aahil Zain of I B secured the second place, and Mr. Shan, parent of Theeksheeka of Prep 1 secured the third place. The Mothers’ participated in passing the Parcel and Mrs.Sameera Banu, parent of Moor Sidra of I A secured the first place, Mrs.Asma Banu, Parent of Umma Aiman of II B secured the second place and Mrs. Hasanath parent of Harmain Tayaba of Prep II B secured the third place. The parents were excited and actively took part in the competition.
The winners were awarded with medals and certificates.
Finally the event to an end with the National Anthem.
