Our School, St. Mary’s Public School, celebrated World Food Day with immense enthusiasm and cultural fervor on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The event showcased the diversity of Indian cuisine, with each class representing a different state, thereby promoting unity in diversity.
The preparations for the event began early, with the competition commencing at 8:45 am. Participants were dressed in costumes representing their assigned states, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. To ensure a smooth transition, students brought their uniforms to change into after the event. Furthermore, only nutritious and vegetarian food was allowed, promoting healthy eating habits among students.
The impressive display of traditional dishes from various Indian states was a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication. They prepared food which belonged to various states like Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andra Pradesh, Hyderabad, Gujarat. Which provides opportunities for the students to learn about the food beyond language barriers, new culture, unique flavors and different ethnicities
The event kicked off with a captivating Kerala dance performance, setting a lively tone for the celebration. This was followed by a heartfelt welcome speech that emphasized the significance of World Food Day. The speech highlighted the importance of food security, sustainable agriculture, and cultural exchange, providing valuable insights to the students.
The school basement was transformed into a culinary journey, with tables arranged and labeled with each class and state name. This beautiful presentation showcased the students’ efforts and creativity. The judges were impressed by the variety and authenticity of the dishes, making their task of selecting winners a challenging one.
The celebration concluded with a thank-you speech, expressing gratitude to participants, teachers, and staff for their enthusiasm and dedication. The event successfully promoted India’s rich culinary heritage, cultural diversity, and unity among students.
