The field trip to the Bangalore Co-op Milk Union was organized on 6th August 2025 to provide students with practical knowledge about the dairy industry, the process of milk collection, processing, packaging, and distribution. It aimed to create awareness about cooperative dairy farming and its role in supporting local farmers and the economy.

Objectives

– To understand the process of milk collection and processing.

– To learn about the cooperative dairy system.

– To observe modern dairy machinery and hygiene practices.

– To appreciate the importance of milk in nutrition and local economy.

During the visit, we were welcomed by the dairy staff who briefed us about the history and functioning of the dairy. We toured various sections of the facility, including:

  • Milk Collection Area: Observed how raw milk is collected from local farmers and tested for quality.
  • Processing Section: Witnessed the pasteurization process, where milk is heated to eliminate harmful bacteria.
  • Packaging Unit: Saw how milk is packaged in cartons for distribution.
  • Storage & Distribution: Learned about storage conditions and the logistics involved in delivering milk to consumers.

The visit to Bangalore Co-op Milk Union was highly informative and engaging. It helped us understand the hard work behind the production of milk and dairy products and highlighted the importance of supporting local cooperatives for sustainable development. We thank the dairy staff for their cooperation and guidance.
