On January 13th, 2025, St. Mary’s Public School celebrated the joyous occasion of Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm and spirit. The event was marked by a range of cultural activities, with a special highlight being the Flower Vase Arrangement Competition held for students of classes 5 and 7 house-wise.

Makar Sankranti is a popular festival in India, marking the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn. It signifies the end of winter and the arrival of the harvest season. Traditionally, it is celebrated with kite flying, bonfires, and the sharing of sweets made from sesame seeds and jaggery. The festival is known for its vibrant energy and communal spirit, and this year, St. Mary’s Public School incorporated these festive elements into a variety of activities for students.

As part of the celebrations, a Flower Vase Arrangement Competition was organized for students of classes 5 and 7. The competition provided an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and artistic skills by arranging flowers in decorative vases. The students were encouraged to use a variety of flowers such as marigolds, roses, and chrysanthemums, which are often associated with Makar Sankranti and other cultural festivals.

The competition was a huge success, with many students putting forth innovative and beautiful floral displays. The judges were impressed with the thoughtfulness and attention to detail shown by the participants. Several students received recognition for their exceptional skills, and prizes were awarded to the top performers in each class.
