On 11th February, 2025 at 10.50, St. Mary’s Public School conducted a mock fire drill to educate students and staff on emergency evacuation procedures in the event of an accidental fire. The objective of the drill was to ensure a swift and safe exit from the premises, minimizing potential risks and injuries.
Prior to the drill an assembly was conducted to give clear evacuation directions, students and staff were instructed on the importance of recognizing the fire alarm, familiarizing themselves with exit routes and assembly points, and understanding evacuation procedures. They were also reminded to stay calm, walk quickly, and not use elevators during an evacuation. The instructions were clear and concise, and students and staff demonstrated a good understanding of the procedures.
The mock fire drill was executed smoothly, with students and staff promptly exiting their classrooms and offices upon hearing the fire alarm. They used the designated exit routes and assembled at the designated assembly points, where teachers conducted headcounts to ensure everyone’s safety. The school administration and safety team monitored the drill, ensuring that all students and staff were accounted for.
Despite the overall success of the drill, some areas for improvement were identified. Some students took more time than expected to exit the premises.
In conclusion, the mock fire drill at St. Mary’s Public School was a valuable exercise in preparing students and staff for emergency situations. While some areas for improvement were identified, the overall response was commendable. By implementing the recommended measures, the school can further enhance its emergency preparedness and ensure a safe learning environment for all.
